Should I study interior design?

That’s a question that pops up in different forums online.

Here’s the reality, studying is a step towards a career. Whether it’s looking through catalogs, or formal education it moves you closer to the goal.

Interior Design doesn’t pay that great as an employee compared to an engineer, but still, that shouldn’t be the sole deterrent because successful designers can make very good money.

What the real consideration should be, and this is true for nearly any creative, “Am I willing to show my work? To ask for business? And to find my audience?”

As a designer, and business owner, you’ll have to sell your value over and over again. For those who don’t have a level of comfort with that, it’s a difficult road.

Anything skill can be a money maker, but it takes someone willing to put in effort that others won’t to do it.
