When most people design websites, they think about everything they’ll need in the future and try to make it perfect. This is why there are so many empty blog links on small business websites.
If I did a deep design before I started writing I wouldn’t have known what I needed. I knew I would add additional items, but the only goal I had for this site when I started was to serve as a blog to put my thoughts out there and clarify my thinking.
There are times to treat projects like architecture, making plans and constructing to specifications. Then there are times to just get started before the structure exists, it all hinges on:
Are you following a known path?
Are you clear about what you want out of it?
Do you know how much it will cost? Does it matter?
